The Door . . .
You can be a part of the dream now that the shelter is a reality. Help FamilyTime break the cycle of violence in our community.

Opened in 1996, "The Door" continues to be the only all-inclusive shelter and crisis center in Northeast Harris County serving victims of domestic violence and their children. Each year FamilyTime's emergency shelter serves more than 400 victims of domestic violence.

The Facts . . .
Violence in the home has no regard for income, profession or social status.
Every 15 second a woman is battered.
They stay because they are held hostage by fear and intimidation, because of their financial constraints, or because of cultural or religious beliefs.
Family violence kills as many women every five years as the total number of Americans who died in the Vietnam war.
The legacy of domestic violence is one that is passed down through generations if there is no intervention.
There are more animal shelters than there are shelters for victims of domestic violence.

What FamilyTime Can Do . . .
FamilyTime offers victims of domestic violence and their children temporary safe haven and intervention services to assist them in ending the cycle of violence.

The primary program and focus is intervention, safety, counseling, guidance and other essential services in preparation for transition to a more permanent, stable and non-violent environment.

The staff of the shelter is trained to provide advocacy and referrals for appropriate support services such as education, legal, vocational, and social services.

With your help "The Door" will continue to offer secure housing for victims of domestic violence and their children.

If you, or someone you know, is in need of temporary shelter due to domestic violence, please call the FamilyTime 24-hour Crisis Helpline at (281) 446-2615 for immediate assistance.
