The Facts . . .
Every year FamilyTime serves more than 400 victims of domestic violence. "The Door" continues to be the only all-inclusive shelter and crisis center in Northeast Harris County serving women and children fleeing domestic violence.
Violence in the home has no regard for income, profession or social status.
•	Every 15 second a woman is battered.
•	They stay because they are held hostage by fear and intimidation, because of their financial constraints, or because of cultural or religious beliefs.
•	Family violence kills as many women every five years as the total number of Americans who died in the Vietnam war.
•	The legacy of domestic violence is one that is passed down through generations if there is no intervention.
•	There are more animal shelters than there are shelters for battered women.

What FamilyTime Can Do
FamilyTime offers women and children temporary safe haven and intervention services to assist them in ending the cycle of violence. With your help "The Door" will continue to offer secure housing for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The primary program and focus is intervention, safety, counseling, guidance and other needed services in preparation for transition to a more permanent and stable environment. The staff of the shelter is trained to provide assistance and referrals for appropriate support: education, legal, vocational, and social services.
